On Thursday, 27th April the first years assembled the whole school out on our basketball courts to create the figure .7%. They took an aerial shot of this and used it to accompany their petition to the Irish Government to honour the commitment of providing .7% of our GDP to the developing world.

Our first year students were keen to ask the Irish government to take action to help those affected by the outbreak of famine in South Sudan. 20 million people face dying of starvation. As the worst humanitarian crisis of the past 60 years is imminent, they decided to get the school to sign a petition to urge our Minister for Foreign Affairs and trade, Mr Charles Flanagan to honour his commitment of providing .7% of our GDP to the developing world. On Thursday, 27th April the first years assembled the whole school out on our basketball courts to create the figure .7%. They took an aerial shot of this and used it to accompany their petition, acting as a visual reminder of his promise.
