6th Year Student, Ciaran O'Byrne, was one of the Senior Students who went on the History/Science trip to London, on Wednesday and Thursday, 25th and 26th March with Ms. Kenny and Ms. McCarthy. He writes about the experience.

Some of our class, along with 5th and 4th year students made the visit to London on a combined History & Science trip.

After arriving at Dublin airport weary-eyed and caffeine filled we departed for London at 7.35am. On arriving we reached the coach, which was surprisingly a real highlight of the trip, as it felt like a 'rock bands' tour bus, with a fridge and all (though we didn't get to use it).

We met our excellent and knowledgeable tour guide, Vivien, and she took us around the main historical, cultural and political highlights of London, including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Dinner was served at Pizza Express and most of us were dressed smart and dapper for the occasion. For me the highlight of this trip was to see the exemplary play "Wicked" at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. It was a fine production with the acting and singing evoking the range of emotions from the audience and the lighting and the props were equal to that.

The next day we visited two Museums, the Science Museum and the Imperial War Museum. The Science Museum was very good, giving us an insight of the science of yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Imperial War Museum was also very good. The Holocaust exhibition was particularly moving for me and it reminds me that this human disaster only took place around 70 years ago, so close that even some people who survived the Holocaust are living to tell about the human crisis.

Overall it was a fantastic trip which was a good learning experience and when I reached home I hit the bed exhausted and fell asleep very happy. For more photos go to the 2014-2015 Web Gallery.
