In the Growing up in Ireland national longitudinal study of children, recent short reports on the lives of 9 year-olds from the study highlighted "just one-quarter reported being physically active for at least 60 minutes every day – the World Health Organisation recommended level of activity for children" (Irish Heart Foundation).

Regular exercise is important to teenagers because it helps maintain their physical and mental health. Students should strive for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily, aiming to spend less time being sedentary and more time being active.
Stratford College will consult with staff, students and parents in the coming days.
