5th Year Chemistry student, Andrew Enright, was amongst the many students standing on the roof of the school at 9.30am on Friday, 20th March to witness the Solar Eclipse through many murky, dark clouds.

Despite the continuously decreasing temperatures, the school came out in full - both in the basketball courts out back, and on the roof itself - to gaze through the clouds of the overcast Friday morning in attempt to witness the solar eclipse on Friday, 20th March. Equipped with astronomy apps to tell us where exactly to be looking, we stood together, watching, and paying close attention to any sign of the spectacle, which was unfortunately covered by a thick coverage of clouds.

However, our patience paid off, as the sound of excited gasps and cheers made way to the revealing of the marvellous sight. Approximately 97% of the sun was blocked by the moon, leaving no more than a sliver of shining light which none of us shall forget. Such a wonderful sight had not been seen since the 90's, and although many of our teachers were able to tell us all about how much easier it was to see it back then, it's fair to say that the excitement of finally being able to see this incredibly unique display, through all the waiting and patience, made the event even more special.
