Ailbhe McMahon (5th Year) and Cathy Dunne (5th Year) stayed in Biarritz last summer to improve their French and appreciation of a certain French dog called Jacques!
Un stage de langue à Biarritz en 2010
L'été dernier, nous avons passé trois semaines à la mer à Biarritz. C’était l'occasion d’améliorer notre français et de faire de nouveaux amis. Nous sommes restées avec une femme qui s'appelle Marie-Christine qui était très agréable et sympa. Malheureusement, elle avait un chien qui s'appelle Jacques, il était très énervant et bruyant! Pendant la semaine, nous assistions à une école française. Le collège était assez petit et tout le monde était très accueillant. Les professeurs ne parlaient pas anglais, donc, on a parlé le français tout le temps. C’était très bien pour notre compréhension de français. Après notre cours du matin nous allions à la plage tous les jours, ou à d'autres villes. Heureusement, le temps était très chaud, mais Cathy a reçu des coups de soleil. Nous étions très tristes quand nous avons du retourner en Irlande! (Click on thumbnail to open an enlarged version of photo. ))

Stratford celebrated Wellbeing Week 2026 (5th - 8th May), a special week dedicated to promoting positive mental health, physical activity and cultural awareness. Students had the opportunity to take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities throughout the week, including walks, workshops, cultural events, sports, and wellbeing challenges.

Congratulations to 1st Year Computer Studies students - Yair, Liam and Giorgi - who made it to the ECO-UNESCO 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards Finals held on 12th May with their Scratch coding project called "Giorgi the Litter Fighter". This is the first time that a Stratford project has made it to the finals - so very impressive work!

Well done to the Stratford College Chess team who reached the Libermann Cup Finals to play against Coláiste Eanna on Monday 11th May. This is the first time that the Chess team has reached the finals. While it proved to be challenging with Coláiste Eanna showing great experience and ultimately winning out, the Stratford chess team are determined to be back next year!
