TY's compete in SciFest@Schools with their coding projects

NEWS / 9 December 2022

After months of work designing and coding their projects, the TYs were ready to present to two external judges as part of the SciFest@Schools competition.

All the projects had a social conscience - from saving trees, to highlighting disability needs, to saving bats. There were real innovations in the projects - music was composed, sprites were hand-drawn and for the first time a "makey, makey" was used.

After two rounds of judging - many thanks to Hugo Rowsome, SciFest project Manager and Brian Gillespie, Computer Science Lecturer in TU Dublin (who joined on Zoom), the following teams won prizes:

  • 1st prize - Caoimhe, Jamie, Rachel and Louis
  • 2nd prize - Kishaylin, Miruna and Adam
  • Innovation prize - Sean, Emily and Devlin
  • Forestry prize - Finn, Esmail and Stephen

The next phase of this competition is to compete at the SciFest@College round in TU Dublin (Blanchardstown) in May 2023.
