Taking on the Walls at Bloc Climbing Center
On Friday, the 2nd of October, we, 4Y, commenced our first of three lessons at the Bloc Climbing Centre in Robinhood. After arriving, we stored our bags and put on our tight climbing shoes before being introduced to the different levels and safety precautions.
The walls ranged from levels 1 to 9, with 1 being the easiest and 9 the hardest. We were shown the proper techniques for climbing and jumping down safely before being let loose to challenge ourselves at our own discretion.
Everyone attempted at least the first few levels, with some pushing themselves further and reaching levels 6 and 7, while others watched and supported them from below. Evidently, the session was a great opportunity for us to work together, as we encouraged one another and helped each other navigate the walls.
By the end of the trip, we were left with sore muscles and a few blisters, but that isn’t going to stop us, as with two lessons still to come, we cannot wait to get back on the walls and continue climbing.
We would like to thank Ms. Finnegan for organising and accompanying us on this trip, alongside Mr. Morgan.

Getting Up to Par at Spawell
This Friday 2nd of October, class 4X journeyed to the Spawell Golf Academy in Templeogue for our first week of golf lessons.
When we arrived, we were met by a golf pro from the golf academy who took us to the driving range. There we were brought back to scratch and began learning the fundamentals of golf, the grip, and swing.
At the range we were given a selection of clubs from irons to drivers, and woods which we used to practice our grip and swing. After receiving pointers and having our swings critiqued, we were let loose to hit as many balls as our hearts desired, using the range markers to measure our distance and accuracy. This proved quite a challenge!
Despite this, we still had a great laugh while starting to learn how to play golf.
We would like to thank Ms. Gower for supervising us and organizing the trip. We can’t wait for our next lesson to see how much we can improve.
