NEWS / 31 October 2025

The TY's continue to explore new skills and become aware of opportunities to follow such as the Mellon Educate fundraising programme, while all the time organising work experience for the first week in December. Liam (TY) writes about the latest happenings.

On Thursday, 23rd October, Emma from the Mellon Educate Buillding Blitz and Literacy fundraising programme came to visit the TYs and to explain about what TYs need to do in order to fundraise €3500 so that they can go to South Africa in March for a week to tutor students, to help build accommodation and to build friendships with South African students. It was a very exciting talk to listen to.

Friday, 24th October was our last self-defence workshop. Over the past 5 weeks TYs have been learning many different self-defence skills. Thank you to our instructor, Liam, for his invaluable expertise.

We were due to start to learn Padel in Bushy Park from Friday 31st October but because of the torrential rain on that Friday 31st - it made sense to stay in school. The first Padel session will be on Friday 7th November instead.

The TYs also had our first table pong class.

All the while, the TYs are getting organised for their first work experience week which starts the week beginning 1st December.
