On the 8th of November, Tomi Reichental visited Stratford College and gave a speech which I think was very important and valuable to every single person who was there. It gave us a view of the worst of human nature and how it affects people but also how people like Tomi deal with their experiences and try to provide the next generation with knowledge on how to try and make sure that events like the Holocaust never happen again. The Holocaust, Tomi reminded us, is still relevant today with racial, ethnic and religious discrimination still a major issue in contemporary times.

Tomi Reichenthal gave a talk to the senior students, parents and teachers. It was a harrowing talk, giving an insight into the very harsh experience he endured as a child in Bergen Belsen. It was shocking to hear first hand what his life had been like and it was an amazing experience having him right there in the room with you. It makes it real and vivid, whereas if you simply read about the horrors that occurred in concentration camps, you wouldn’t get quite the same effect. It was a great experience for students, parents and teachers alike.
