Three Oscar nominations for critically acclaimed film “Albert Nobbs”

The film "Albert Nobbs" has received three Oscar nominations: Best Actress (Glenn Close), Best Supporting Actress (Janet McTeer) and Best Makeup (Martial Corneville, Lynn Johnston and Matthew W. Mungle). The screenplay was co-written by Glenn Close and John Banville based on the George Moore novella, "The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs".

The screenplay,co-written by Glenn Close and John Banville, is based on the George Moore novella, "The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs".  The soundtrack is written by US-based Irish composer Brian Byrne.

According to the website, IMDb.com, "Glenn Close plays a woman passing as a man in order to work and survive in 19th century Ireland. Some thirty years after donning men's clothing, she finds herself trapped in a prison of her own making."

The 84th Academy Awards Ceremony is on Sunday, 26th February.
