Student Council December Activities

Mitzvah Week2023 2
NEWS / 1 December 2023

December is a busy month for Student Council as they prepare for the Mitzvah Raffle, organise Mitzvah Social Action Week and  Elections (Prefects & Junior Representatives).

There is also information in this blog for students about the School Inspection process from the Department of Education.

Over the last few weeks, the Student Council has been organising and managing Mitzvah Social Action Week in Stratford. The objective of Mitzvah Social Action Week is to encourage members of our student body and staff to support our local community and charity in the weeks before the festive season.

Here is a photo of thank you from Focus Ireland for the Mitzvah Shoe Box Gift from 5th years. The students purchased a gift for the homeless eg hats, gloves, socks & toiletries. They labelled the boxes for either an adult make or female or child. Thanks to Sean’s mum for taking all the boxes into Focus Ireland for us.

Several year groups in our school have displayed exemplary social awareness and generosity to their community over the past fortnight. The 3rd Years organised a litter clean-up of the Dodder greenway, TY students donated prizes to the Harold’s Cross hospice, and the 5th Years have participated in a Winter shoebox appeal.

Additionally, tickets are on sale for the annual Student Council Mitzvah Raffle on December 22nd @ 10:30AM. Students can purchase tickets through cash payment during the last class of every day for €3 per Single and €5 for a column. Numerous local businesses in the Rathgar/Rathmines area have agreed to donate prizes to our raffle, for example, The Bijou, Rathgar Pharmacy, Thomas Collins hair salon, The Butler’s Pantry, and more. All proceeds earned from the raffle will be donated directly to Focus Ireland.
