Stratford triumphant against Kylemore College in 1st and 2nd Year Boys basketball matches

NEWS / 25 February 2020

The Stratford 1st and 2nd Year Boys Basketball teams were both triumphant against Kylemore College at the Ballyfermot Sports complex on Monday, 24th February. This win was important for both 1st and 2nd Year teams as it was the 2nd Years first win as a team and the 1st Years third win in a row, which is very impressive for First Years.

The Day out started with the two teams travelling out to Ballyfermot by coach. When the two teams arrived at the complex, they got changed into their Stratford kit. After they got dressed the two teams waited in a nice room with a view of the court while they were waiting for the court to be free.

The 1st year then got warmed up and went straight into a match against the Kylemore 1st year team. After an entertaining four quarters of basketball the full-time whistle blew for the 1st year match, which they won convincingly 30 points-7 points.

It was then time for the 2nd year team to get warmed up and play the 2nd year Team of Kylemore College. After a tough and physical match, the full-time whistle blew, with the Stratford 2nd year boys team picking up their first victory in a very close 24 points-21 points win.

After some post-match celebrations on the court the Stratford teams got dressed back into PE uniform and travelled back to the school. Although both of the Stratford teams experienced tough and physical games, the Stratford 1st and 2nd Year boys basketball teams enjoyed a brilliant day out in Ballyfermot.

Thanks to Ms. Finnegan for organising a brilliant day out.

Luke Higgins (2nd Year)
