A new cultural festival online called Classics Now took place from 13-15th November. The ClassicsNow weekend featured wide-ranging ‘in conversation’ events with some of the most exciting international writers who are using the ancient past as a way to reflect on our world today.

These talks are available to enjoy on YouTube.

The CAI-T (Classical Association of Ireland - Teachers) was one of the festival partners.

One event run in conjunction with the weekend was a Classics competition for secondary school students. There were two categories - Digital retelling of Greek myths and performance of Classical material.

As always, Stratford College Classics students were enthusiastic, and we had 6 different competition entries. Students from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th year participated in the competition and the standard was very high.

The results are due to be announced in the next fortnight. The competition was very popular with entries from all over Ireland and 4 prizes will be announced.

We will be making the digital retelling of Greek myth available to enjoy soon.

Well done to the 9 students who participated in the competition. Your entries were innovative and a joy to watch. May Fortuna shine on you.
