On 17th February 2017, the winning books in the Junior and Senior Category were announced at the Inaugural Great Reads Award hosted by The King's Hospital Library. Four Junior books and four Senior books were selected from a long list collated by librarians who are members of the Irish School Library Association. Students get to rate each book that they read. The Junior and Senior books getting the most votes - win! The school with the most student votes also win a prize.
On 17th February, "The Art of Being Normal" by Lisa Williamson won the Great Reads Award Senior Category prize and "Knights of the Borrowed Dark" by Dave Rudden won the Junior Category (the most read book in the competition) in the first ever Great Reads Award. Stratford College students participated in the Great Reads Award. Authors had to be debut Young Adult authors, published between January 2015 and June 2016. Students get to rate each book that they read. The Junior and Senior books getting the most votes - win! The school with the most student votes also win a prize.
There was a lot of interest in a number of the books in both the Junior and Senior category.

In the run up to the state exams, Stratford's Wellbeing Team draws your attention to the suite of resources on gov.ie under the heading of Wellbeing support for Exam Students, Parents and School Staff.
As is tradition at this time of year, the annual rounders game took place between our outgoing 6th Years and Teachers. Despite great efforts by our 6th years and some fabulous play, Teachers came out victorious. Fair play to all who played in this game.
