Stratford's Green Schools Committee are delighted to announce that 33 old classroom and computer lab computers are being donated to the charity, Camara Education, for recycling on Wednesday 4th November. Over the summer of 2015 Stratford invested in a whole new suite of computers for its classrooms and computer lab.

On Wednesday, 4th November 2015, Stratford College is donating 33 old classroom and computer lab computers, as well as cables, to the registered Irish charity, Camara Education. This is on foot of Stratford investing in new state-of-the-art computers for the computer lab and the classrooms over the summer. This investment is part of the school's eLearning programme and realises the full potential of the IT infrastructure upgrade that started two years ago, which includes WiFi and a Bring Your Own Tablet (BYOT) strategy.

According to Camara, when they receive these computers "they will wipe each hard drive 3 times in accordance with US Department of Defence standards. Stratford College will receive a Data Erasure Certification for each computer that was wiped, as well as receiving a Reuse/Recycle Certificate outlining inventory collected for either refurbishment or disposal at an authorised WEEE recycling company.

Once this is complete all refurbishable computers and parts will be reused in disadvantages schools in Ireland, Africa or the Caribbean."
