On Tuesday 24th of March, our school football team played a friendly match against Greenhills Community College in Walkinstown. It was a good opportunity to experiment, as Emmet captained the team for the first time, while we tried out a new 5-3-2 formation, instead of the usual 5-4-1.

The first half ended 2-2. While there were some costly mistakes at the back, there were also positives going forward, with Brodie and Roberto both scoring and showing good attacking quality.

The second half was, as many of the players described it, like a match of 'table tennis'. Greenhills scored early on, we responded, and the game kept going back and forth. It was 3-3, then 4-4, and so on, until we found some consistency towards the end and managed to pull away, finishing with a 9-7 win.

Although it was a win, the performance, particularly in defence, was not at the standard we usually expect. As Thomas always says that he 'demands perfection', we know there is a lot to improve on. At the same time, there are positives to take too. In the past, conceding high numbers, including double digit figures, wasn't unusual for us, but being the side to score nine goals in one game is a new record and shows improvement in attack.

Despite some of us being disappointed with parts of the performance, getting a win on Thomas's birthday wasn't the worst result either.

A big thanks to Thomas and Jim-Bob as usual for their continued support and dedication.
