Stratford boys and girls basketball teams complete hat-trick of wins to wrap up December!

Girls Basketball dec2023
NEWS / 18 December 2023

After our pulsating cup final win from our Gladiator under 16's boys, Stratford College engaged in three competitive games against High School during December.

Our first game against a much bigger under 15's second first years resulted in a stellar performance from captain Adam and a buzzer beating 27-26 win for our boys.

The second game was a reversal defeat for our under 19 boys 37-36. Tomer was very unwell and four important players were missing due to injuries so Big Sean stepped in to produce a magnificent debut performance. We look forward to the return match with our full squad in new year!

On Thursday we had our first under 19's girls game and magnificent debut performances from Jessica (our newly appointed captain), Niamh and Elizabeth resulted in a stunning 28-12 victory. The girls rugby prowess gave us physicality against a much bigger High School team. Leinster and hopefully soon-to-be Irish water polo international Elizabeth was Trojan in offence and defence. Her fitness stats were off the radar. Aoibhin made history by becoming youngest player to don an under 19 jersey. Anna in TY still managed to top score whilst carrying an ankle injury. Lucy, Grace and Noga were like tigers on the court, while Isla and Tam gave us decent minutes to give the seniors some much needed breaks. The future is very bright for our girls senior teams next year and their coach couldn't have been prouder of such a classy team.
