Poetry Aloud 2013: students compete in regional round

NEWS / 4 December 2013

Congratulations to Diarmaid and Cormac who competed in the Poetry Aloud Competition 2013 at the National Library of Ireland in November.

Congratulations to Diarmaid and Cormac who competed in the regional round of the Poetry Aloud Competition at the National Library of Ireland in November. Cormac gave a very sensitive evocation of Wordsworth's 'Daffodils', communicating accurately the vitality of this experience for Wordsworth. Cormac's recital of 'The Lion King', by Joe Woods.

During our Open Day, our visitors were treated to a recital of Seamus Heaney's, 'A Constable Calls', by Diarmaid. His sensitive, nuanced and dramatic recital draws out all the subtleties within the poem, leaving the listener encased in the world that Heaney wove. A wonderful performance, well done Diarmaid.'
