Poem for Ireland: ‘When all the others were away at Mass’ by Seamus Heaney

On Wednesday, 11th March, Seamus Heaney's poem, 'When all the others were away at Mass' was selected as Ireland's favourite poem over the last 100 years.

At the 2nd Year Assembly on Friday, 13th March an audio recording of Heaney reciting his poem, 'When all the others were away at Mass' was played to staff and students. This poem was chosen from a shortlist that had been created by an independent jury during 2014. RTE then asked the public to vote. This poem was announced as the winner by President Michael D. Higgins on Wednesday, 11th March.

Stratford reach the 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards Finals in RDS for the first time

Congratulations to 1st Year Computer Studies students - Yair, Liam and Giorgi - who made it to the ECO-UNESCO 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards Finals held on 12th May with their Scratch coding project called "Giorgi the Litter Fighter". This is the first time that a Stratford project has made it to the finals - so very impressive work!
