I went to see Medea yesterday in the Mill Theatre in Dundrum. The main character Medea was acted superbly. However I disliked the Chorus as they didn't show much emotion. The audience could find Medea's character very interesting.

The 5th and 6th Year students went to the Balally theatre production of Medea on Wednesday, 13th April. Overall it was an enjoyable show with Jenny Flynn playing the beautifully tragic Medea. However I feel that they could have used a better translation of the script as the sophisticated subtleties of Euripides' language is spelt out a bit too much for the audience's liking.

The staring eyes of the Chorus were the first sight of the fifth and sixth year students as they entered the production of Medea in the Mill Theatre. Their gaze was unwavering, giving us a taste for the intense performance ahead of us. Euripides' play was certainly dire justice, as the night held host to many laughs and intakes of breath from the audience, portraying poignant scenes with commendable direction. All in all it was successful, and without a doubt a memorable way for us to approach the play in our further Classical Studies. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of photo. ))
