Internet Safety Talk given to all students by ChildWatch Ireland

NEWS / 16 May 2011

Nao Mutai, Alex Lai and Marc Comiskey (5th Year) write about their impressions of the Internet Safety Talk given by Pat McKenna, ChildWatch on Friday, 6th May.

The talk on internet safety was very significant for us teenagers, as we were not aware of the danger that existed in the "online" world. Mr.McKenna from Child Watch came in to inform us the consequences that could occur from little things we do on social network sites. I feel that after the talk, people changed their behaviour on these sites.

Last Friday, a speaker from Childwatch Ireland came into our school to give us a talk on Internet saftey. I found it really intriguing because it really made me aware about the dangers of the Internet. From now on I will be more careful about what pages to go on the Internet and what not to go on.
Alex Lai (5th year)

Internet safety is mentioned only a handful of times in certain subjects. The speaker from ChildWatch came in and gave us a very good insight on how big it is and how easy it can happen. He didn’t tell us to stay away from the Internet but he simply told use to be careful.
