NEWS / 22 March 2017

Stratford College came 3rd place in the annual Classical Studies Ides of March inter-schools quiz on Tuesday, 21st March. Well done to all the Stratford teams who competed.

On 21st March the annual Classical Studies inter-school quiz took place. This year 26 teams competed. Teams came from schools all over Ireland. There was a competitive atmosphere from the start to the end of the quiz.

Once again Stratford students received a prize. This year Stratford came third with a great score of 40/50 questions correct. There were ten rounds with questions covering all topics on Junior and Leaving certificate Classical Studies. In total there are 20 topics to choose questions from and most Leaving Certificate students have studied a total of 9. It is truly a heroic achievement to get such high scores across all topics.

Congratulations to all the students from Stratford who competed and a particular well done to the team who came third.  This team comprised of Moya Richardson McCrea (Captain, 6th), Ryan Baker (5th),  Emma Smyth (3rd) and Oonagh Delargy (3rd). Last year, Stratford came first in the quiz so our message is not to sit on our laurels and roll on next year's quiz!

As always, it was such a joy to see so many students enjoying and displaying their knowledge of the ancient world.
