From Sunday, 2nd April through to Tuesday, 4th April a group of TY students and 5th Year students went to Krakow on a History trip. Highlights of the trip included visiting the Wieliczka Salt Mines, Oscar Schindler's Factory and a guided tour of Krakow. The trip also included a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. A number of students write about the highlight of the trip for them:
"The trip to Poland was a great experience. We had lots of fun. We went to Auschwitz-Birekenau which was an eye-opening experience. I don't think I will ever forget everthing I saw there." Jake Henry (5th Year)
"The trip to Poland was a wonderful History trip which gave us an insight in a darker period of the past, particularly the Nazi Occupation of Poland. The visit to Auschwitz was especially harrowing but very important to believe I think, remembering the countless lives lost there." Cormac Kelly (5th Year)
"The highlight of the Poland trip was Auschwitz and the experience of being there. It was such an eye-opening trip, and gave me an insight to how badly the Jewish were treated." Alannah Anderson (5th Year)
"The highlight for me was the Segway when I couldn't get off it and reversed into the Basilica!" Des Smyth (5th Year)
Thanks to Ms. Kenny, Ms. Finnegan and Ms. Fanning for organising such a fantastic trip. For more photos see the 2016-2017 Gallery.
