This year for our Biodiversity Action Day on Friday 24th February, the Green Schools Committee were delighted to have Natalija Cvetic come in, a devoted and committed gardener and a mother of a past Green Schools leader, who taught the committee and the 1st years how to make flower bombs.
A flower bomb is a small ball made up of a mixture of compost, clay and seeds. It was quite messy but a lot of fun and luckily we had the committee to help clean up so a big thanks to them!
Everyone in the school community will be making flower bombs next week, promoting a diverse biodiversity in our school atmosphere, as it attracts a variety of insects and animals, like butterflies and birds.
The flower bombs can be planted anywhere, if you live in an apartment or a house, the flowers only need a small space to grow. Later this week, the flower bombs will be planted in our school and people's homes.
This years action day is definitely a colourful one! Thanks to Davi for taking the photos. If you want to stay even more up-to-date check out our Instagram @greenschoolsstratford!
