In Memoriam
Zoltan Zinn-Collis gave his birthday date as the 01 August 1940, although no was one is sure of the exact date of his birth.  He was four or five years old at the time he was found in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp with his sister Edit, by Bob Collis, a volunteer Irish doctor with the British Red Cross.  He helped treat Zoltan's tuberculosis and other ailments.  Eventually, Bob brought him back to Ireland where he reared Zoltan and Edit as part of his own family.

Zoltan remained in Ireland.  He was married to Joan and lived in Athy, Co Kildare. They have four grown-up daughters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Zoltan published his memoir, Final Witness: My Journey from the Holocaust to Ireland, in 2006.

Holocaust Education Trust Ireland would like to pay special tribute to Zoltan for the invaluable commitment which he showed in sharing his personal experiences of the Holocaust with students in schools throughout Ireland. His story made an indelible impression on all who heard it.
