On the 7th of May, Stratford College held an informative and educational evening, organized kindly by the Parents association, dedicated to highlighting different career options and their benefits for third - sixth years.

The evening began with coffee and chats as the guest speakers from various branches of work spoke briefly to the parents and students there, until the introductory from the PA as we jumped straight into the first presentation which was done by the Irish Defence Forces. The presentations included useful and enlightening information about the salaries, working life, educational benefits, provided facilities and the experience working in their respective fields.

Representatives from the Defence forces, ESB, An Garda Síochána, Air Traffic Control, Dublin Fire Brigade, Westbury Hotel Management and Chartered Surveyors Ireland joined us, providing helpful information and interesting perspectives on their job, along with a perfect opportunity to ask about TY work experience! As well as this, we were given useful tips and tricks on how to master the art of being interviewed for a future job.

As a third year, it was great to be able to have a snippet on the lives of someone working in any field of work, I learnt many things I would not have been exposed to if I had not attended the event and gained an improved understanding of what it means to be working, and the different options of careers available to me.
