On Wednesday 30th September, the boys’ football team kicked off their new season with their first game against Ballinteer CS, U19s. With plenty of new faces, both with club backgrounds and others who wanted to give it a try, it was a tough test for the squad. Despite this, we started well and kept our shape throughout the game, under the guidance of the leaders.
There were good moments at both ends of the pitch, particularly the two chances from corners resulting in shots on target. Defensively, we worked hard to keep Ballinteer out, with everyone putting their bodies on the line when needed.
As the game progressed, however, injuries and fatigue began to affect us, making it difficult to maintain the same intensity. Ballinteer eventually finished the game with a 5–0 win.
Despite the disappointing result, we continued to compete until the final whistle and will take the positives from the performance into the next few games. We would like to thank Thomas O’Reilly for his continued dedication and guidance, as he marked five years with the school, and Mr. McInerney for supporting us, alongside Allie and Sophie from TY.
