Arts Week 2013: Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous female rap artist - a highlight

NEWS / 14 November 2013

The female rap artist, Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous, was for many students the highlight of Arts Week when she visited the school on Tuesday, 12th November.

Day two of Arts Week exploded with the seminal sound of Tempermental Miss Elayneous. This lady merges the very distinctively urban sound of HipHop with the more languid sound Sean Nos; the end result is a eloquent lyric and  bracing rhythm that cannot fail to hypnotise!  Miss Elayneous is articulate, political and an utterly inspirational teenage idol. It was so refreshing to hear her charged lyrics, without one expletive,  challenge the political status quo. Protest lyrics are back with gusto! If you want to hear her music, all her tunes are on Spotify.

My favourite was when the rapper came into the school. I like that because it is not everyday when a rapper comes into a school.
Jennifer Fehily (3rd Year)

My favourite part of Arts Week was the female rap-artist. Although I didn't like her style of writing lyrics and rhythm, I felt like she interacted with the group of students in a fun, exciting manner. She burst out in song in front of our school which displayed her confidence and how proud she was to be where she was. Although I enjoyed this the most, I found each of the other workshops I participated in to be extremely informative and fun.

When the rapper came in or Collins Barracks. I'm hoping Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous comes in again.

During Arts Week, many different writers/artists came into the school. My favourite artist was definitely Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous. She was so inspiring and talented. I loved her use of colloquial language. I enjoyed all the workshops and I learned quite a lot from them.  I am delighted that Stratford celebrates Arts Week.
Megan Harnett (3rd Year)

My favourite part of Arts Week was when we did the workshop with Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous. Although I enjoyed every activity we were involved in during this year's action-packed Arts Week, I felt it was this aspect I got the most out of. I learned four types of hip-hop and my own rapping skills... I even tried my own beat-boxing!
Hannah Kearns (5th Year)

I really enjoyed Arts Week this year. It was packed with activities. It was great to see the Arts being appreciated and the enthusiasm of the artists reflected on the students. My favourite workshop was the female rap artist, Temper-Mental Miss Elayneous. She was full of passion and really encouraged us to be confident at attempting rap skills.

The rapper - undoubtedly. Brought much needed energy to a Tuesday morning.
Paul Ingoldsby (6th Year)

Although we can only speculate, a source close to Rory stated that in his opinion, Rory may or may not have thought that the rap artist 'rapped'.
