6th Year Higher Irish class see the play “An Triail”

NEWS / 25 October 2011

Cathy Dunne (6th Year) describes the class visit to the see the Irish play, "An Triail" at the Axis Theatre on Tuesday, 11th October.

An TriailChuaigh rang onóracha na hArdteiste leis an dráma Gaeilge "An Triail" a fheiceál Mháirt 11ú Deireadh Fómhair 2011. Is drama é seo atá suite in Éirinn na Críostaíochta sa bhliain 1963. Bhí masc ar gach ceann de na haisteoirí, seachas an phríomhcharactar Máire, rud a léiríonn an cur i gcéill a bhí igceist leis an Eaglais Chatlaiceach ag an am. Teánn Máire in eadán an choráis se trí leanbh a bheith aici taobh amuigh den phósadh agus bíonn daor uirthi mar gheall air seo. Bhain mé an-suit as an dráma seo agus chabhraigh sé go mór liom don Ardteist é a fheicéail beo ar an ardán.

The 6th Year Honours class went to the Irish play, "An Triail", on Tuesday, 11th October 2011. The play is set in Christian Ireland in 1963. All the characters wore masks with the exception of Máire. This was a symbolism of people playing to the act that the Catholic Church was a caring and forgiving system. Máire rebels to this system by having and raising an "illegitimate child". Over I enjoyed "An Triail" and felt it really helped me with the insight of this play.
