5th Year Biology students go on Ecology field trip

NEWS / 11 May 2011

Michael Lysaght and Olivia Bagnall (5th Year) recount the Ecology field trip to Dublin Zoo held on Monday, 9th May.

Ecology field tripEcology Trip to Dublin ZooOn Monday, 9th May our 5th Year Biology class took a trip to Dublin Zoo to carry out our Leaving Certificate Ecology field work. Having already done the theory behind it, it was just a case of getting out there and putting it to use. We researched a grassland habitat in the Phoenix Park. Small showers of rain weren't very welcome but they didn't effect the enjoyment of the day. After completing the field work we had the chance to wander around the Zoo and see the animals. It was a lovely day. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of photo. ))

The 5th Year Biology students made their way towards Phoenix Park, where a number of ecology-based activities lay before them. Between capturing insects and laying pitfall traps, the time flew by, the group dispersed and the day went by swimmingly.
