5th Year Art students visit Alice Maher exhibition

NEWS / 13 February 2013

Alice Quinn-Banville (5th Year) is impressed by the Alice Maher exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art at Earlsfort Terrace, on Friday, 8th February.

On Friday, 8Alice Maherth February the Fifth year Art class visited the IMMA at Earlsfort Terrace to see "Becoming" a mid-career retrospective of the work of Alice Maher, one of Ireland's most respected and influential artists. On our arrival we met with our tour guide who showed us the highlights of the collection such as "Familiar" (1995) and "Berry Dress" (1994).

The whole class found her work very interesting, especially those of us that also study Classics, considering that Maher is heavily influenced by ancient Mythology and Classical stories. We are very grateful that Ms. Mahon organised the trip for us and accompanied us there.
