NEWS / 31 May 2012

On Sunday and Monday, 20th and 21st May, an intrepid band of TY students successfully completed a 32km walk in the Wicklow Mountains as part of their Gaisce award. Dylan Ivers (TY) recounts the trip.

Last weekend, Sunday 20th and Monday, 21st May, TY students went on an epic 32km walking adventure through the highlands of Wicklow. This was done as part of the Gaisce Presidents Award which we are struggling towards since the start of the year.

Waking up on Sunday morning at seven am, rushing towards the car and making a wrong turn into an abandoned Reconciliation Centre, were some of the highlights of Sunday morning in preparation for the looming 32km distance that had to be covered by Monday evening. Only 25km was actually needed but our guide brought us on an extra few km just for the fun of it. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of image.)
