2nd Year students were transported back in time through a guided tour of the restored rooms of 14 Henrietta Street and Dublin’s City Centre on Thursday, 15th May. Stories and history of the house were shared about Lord Viscount Molesworth in the 1700s as well as the lives of the urban poor when No. 14 became a tenement house in the 1880s.
Students enjoyed a picnic in the garden of Kings’ Inn before a short walking tour of 1800s Dublin where they learned about the impact of key personalities on Irish history by observing statues and street names that commemorate personalities like Daniel O’Connell and Charles Stewart Parnell. Overall the tour added to their knowledge and understanding of history, culture and society in these periods.
