1st Years create Medieval History Stop Motion videos

During 1st Year History and Computer Studies classes, students worked in groups to create one minute Stop Motion videos on a Medieval History topic of their choice. Work started in December and were finalised in early February. 1st Year student, Itai Barhen, explains what is involved in making a Stop Motion video. A selection of the videos were shown at the 1st Year Assembly on 27th April.

Last term both 1st Year classes were assigned a History project by Ms. Kenny and Mr. Priestley. We were split into groups of four and had to create a short Stop Motion video for about one minute relating to the Medieval times, for example their daily lives or about their castles.

Stop Motion films are created by taking a series of pictures and putting them together. The smoother you want your video to be, the more frames you need to put per second. We used about 5 frames per second which means 300 frames in the total minute. That's taking 300 pictures.

We used Microsoft Movie Maker to edit our clips. Some used a green screen to enhance their videos, others just made their own. We made a total of 10 videos and Ms O'Kelly made a small compilation of them. Here it is:
