Ryan Baker (1st Year) describes the visit to Oxfam and Barnardos charity shops in Rathmines on Tuesday, 20th November as part of the 1st Year Fashion Design project.

The 1st Years have just completed a 5-week Fashion Design project based on animals and recycling. After a trip to the Natural History Museum (Thursday, 8th November) and Oxfam (Tuesday, 20th November), they collected clothing and recyclables and created their own designs based on characteristics of their chosen animal.

The first years accompanied by Ms. Murphy and Ms. Mahon, went to Oxfam and Barnardos to buy a piece of clothing for a project we are doing. Oxfam and Barnardos are two charity shops. Instead of binning your old clothes, you could simply bring them to a charity shop and they sell the clothes. Whatever money they make, the shop would give to charity. We really enjoyed the trip and we learned a lot about Oxfam too!
