TY Present: “Blood Brothers”, 25th April 2013

Ms. Conlon directed the TY stage production of "Blood Brothers", by Willy Russell, on Thursday, 25th April. There was a matinee in the morning where pupils from Stratford National School attended, followed by the evening performance at 7pm. The TYs were given a standing ovation to a packed house when it was over. Huge effort went into this production  - thanks to Ms. Conlon, Ms. Mahon, Brendan, the 5th Year Music students and all the TYs for the work that they did. Also thanks to all the teachers and staff who gave their support.

Seachtain na Gaeilge concert, 14th March 2013

Seachtain na Gaeilge concert, 14th March 2013

For Seachtain na Gaeilge, Ms. Ivers, her Irish students, and in particular her 1st Year and TY Irish students worked extremely hard to put together a fun and varied Seachtain na Gaeilge concert. The 1st Year's put on a Cinderalla pantomime as Gaeilge. They brought the house down! From music, to singing, to dancing and to the TY Irish film, the school had an enjoyable afternoon of all things Irish. A big thank-you to Ms. Ivers for all her hard work.

World Book Day, 7th March 2013

World Book Day, 7th March 2013

World Book Day, Thursday 7th March 2013 kicked off with a bang with a book sale in aid of St. Michael's House - "Bring a Book, Buy a Book". A great buzz was generated by the "Guess-the-teacher-behind-the-book" photo quiz. Straight after the book sale, each year was pitted against each other at form time to see who would win out in the word-search competition. Meanwhile there is an exhibition of old school books on display in the Library - pride of place being the 1851 edition of "Sophocles", in Greek, which is on loan from Ms. Mulligan. Mr. Conaghan, author and teacher, came in to launch the "Stratford College Writes" book, where each student contributed their best piece of work in their chosen subject. Mr. Conaghan also spoke about his writing experience to date, his rejections and his first published novel, "The Boy who Made it Rain". His second novel is due to be published shortly.
