Such was the general public response to Oscar McHale's interview with John Murray on RTE Radio 1 on Friday, 24th April, during the course of May 2015 Oscar has had a weekly Classics slot teaching the nation about topics including Herodotus and Julius Caesar. Listen to the podcasts.

Last summer Oscar McHale (TY) came up with the idea to teach friends about Classical Studies because their school didn't. Fast-forward to almost a year later and Oscar will be teaching the whole country about Classical Studies in a series of 10 minute slots over the next few Friday mornings on The John Murray Show on RTE Radio 1, starting 8th May.

How did this happen? Oscar took the initiative and set up the Classical Youth Society of Ireland (CYSI) during the summer of 2014, gave some lectures to friends and friends-of-friends and told his Classics teacher Ms. Donohoe who promoted CYSI at the Classical Association of  Ireland Teachers AGM in October 2014. From there Oscar gave a CYSI lecture in Trinity College, while more and more people attended! At the school Seachtain na Gaeilge concert Oscar gave a short talk on Classical Studies from an Irish angle - see a short excerpt of the talk on Stratford's YouTube channel.

Because of CYSI, Oscar was interviewed by John Murray on Friday, 24th April on his RTE Radio 1 show to a phenomenal response from the general public and from academic institutions such as Trinity and Oxford University
