On the morning of Sports Day, Thursday, 6th May, the Green Schools committee got the whole school to walk around the playing field holding four heavy books, to emulate what it is like to walk several miles for a bucket of water. This is one of the Action Days towards getting a Water Flag.

As part of getting our Water Flag we have to hold a few Action Days and one action that the Green Schools committee agreed on was to hold a Walk for Water to put emphasis on how privileged we are that we only have to go to a sink for a glass of water, instead of having to walk several miles each day for a bucket of water. We emulated what carrying this water feels like by getting all the students to carry four substantially heavy books around the field to raise awareness about this and at the end we gave everyone a a small chocolate bar for their time. We hope that this event will have reminded people how lucky we are and we thank everyone who helped make the walk the event that it was.
