Michael Lawlor-Rojas (5th Year) describes the extremely busy Careers Night held in the school on Wednesday, 17th April. Transition Year and Senior cycle students met lawyers, accountants, musicians, publishers and other professionals.

On Wednesday the 17th of April, the Parents' Association and Student Council organised a Careers Talk for Transition year and Senior cycle students. Ranging from lawyers and accountants, to musicians and publishers, the Parents' Association did a great job in getting such a varied group of people together in one night. Dermot Maguire (HR Manager, VHI) gave a talk on CVs and how to increase your chances in getting a job. We learned of the USP (Unique Selling Point) and how to format information on your CV so it is more likely to be read.

After receiving the talk, everyone present split themselves into groups of twos or threes and went around to each person at a desk, asking various questions relating to their careers and experiences. It was an extremely beneficial night, and everyone learned new things about various different careers, opening more doors to potential career paths.
