U19 and U16 Boys Basketball teams record big wins

NEWS / 22 September 2023

A truly memorable Double Header of Basketball!

Stratford under 16’s recorded a resounding 40-17 win in Clogher road on Thursday, 21st September.  Inspired by captain Tomer, and his double figure contribution on the boards and in baskets Stratford totally controlled the game.

Josh put in a huge shift and second year Finn contributed with a big 3 and 7 point haul. Ugo was immense under the boards and in defence taking their big out of the game. Adam was instrumental in some lovely drives and dishes. Solid performances from Sean, Danil and Omri enabled us to keep the lead and stretch it in final quarter. Paddy was as safe as a house in defence. The boys produced a magnificent performance. And their coach was super proud of them.

The under 19’s were slow to get going and were in a dogfight as a very physical and at times brutal game ensued. Liam was brilliant in keeping his head when attacked and won two free throws and possession. Tyrese was our top scorer with invaluable outside scores. Mori gave us a real solid grounding and some great boards which kept us ahead. Tyrese at times defended our basket against two offenders and was brilliant in D and boards. Ugo also won us some outstanding offensive rebounds. Josh and Tomer continued their fantastic form and contributed hugely to the win. Daniel was as safe as a house when the game needed to be controlled. Sean gave us a big presence on defence. Whilst we won comfortably it’s safe to save, we can improve. Once again, a fantastic win given the physicality.

A tremendous shout out to our magnificent girls who did the time clock and score sheet and photography.
Jessica , Niamh and Anna . They were brilliant.
Mr O'Callaghan
