U16 Girls Basketball team play brilliantly

NEWS / 12 October 2023

On Wednesday 11th October the U16 Girls basketball team played brilliantly against Loreto Crumlin to win 40-4.

Stratford under 16 girls came to their home court with trepidation but on the strong back of an excellent victory last week. A fantastic start to the game resulted in TY Anna scoring fabulous finger roll lay-ups and Julia and Aoibhin adding great scores to leave us coasting after the first quarter. Lucy and Lily gave us an immense intensity and frequent fast breaks. The bench came on and Olwyn bagged a basket and Ciara along with Isla and Noga continued our fantastic defence, and we held the opposition Loreto scoreless at 32-0.

Tam was responsible for a great steal, with Mia and Rhea showing great fight and passing skills. The squad were super and no matter what the combination our girls continued to extend the score… which resulted in our school achieving a colossal 40 – 4 ... win. Quite possibly a record win in pool games.

Their coach was proud as punch as they were relentless in their efforts to extend their scores at all stages of the match. Six squad members did not play in this game, but their vocal support and the teams was greatly appreciated. Zoe was invaluable as team manager with Liam executing table duties and timekeeping in an excellent manner. A big thank you to the teachers’ covering classes who facilitated our game and their continued support. They are so proud of you ALL.

Roll on Next game
