On Monday, 25th February the school was alive with favourite characters from books all in aid of charity (Crohn's Disease) and organised by the Student Council. Michael Lawlor Rojas explains further.

On Monday, 25th of February, Stratford College celebrated the Jewish festival of Purim by dressing up as characters from books in aid of a charity. Everyone from 1st Years to the teachers took part in the event, and all had a light-hearted and enjoyable day. There were too many great costumes to distinguish any one person as a winner, but every member of the Student Council felt the 5th Years put the most effort into their costumes, and so they were awarded a box of Roses as a prize. Look at the 2012-2013 Gallery to see some of the characters! (Click on blog title to see more photos.)

The day was a great success, with over €100 were raised in aid of Crohn’s Disease.

The water activities were pier jumping, paddleboarding, swimming and bodyboarding, a favourite amongst the group. On land, we did Archery, climbing, human foosball, life-sized board games and lots of table tennis. After the activities we were all famished, our hunger was erased in an instant as the chefs there prepared delicious meals. Despite the mixed weather we still got into the water. We loved every second of it, but we also loved the hot showers afterwards! In our Irish class we expanded our vocabulary, learning new words for the activities we did, then wrote and performed scripts as Gaeilge that included the new vocabulary.
