I can truthfully claim that my experience at Stratford was a positive and fulfilling one. As a small multi-denominational school it has the ability to embody and nurture characteristics to which all second-level institutions should aspire. Its wonderfully dedicated and professional staff make Stratford what it is today. Their passion and knowledge helped spur and mature my talents and made me comfortable as a student. The school is unique in a multitude of ways. For example, during my Junior Certificate years I studied the fascinating world of Classics. It’s only now in the university setting that I can fully appreciate how valuable the subject has been. In the humanities course I study it has proven to be an incredibly useful foundation.
I still have fond memories of the Art room and the creativity that was always encouraged by my enthusiastic teacher. However, the greatest testament to Stratford comes during one of the most difficult times of my life. On the death of a close family member I can recall the most compassionate outpouring of support from the whole school. My teachers and classmates were always there for me and it is truly something I will never forget. My time there taught me much about academia, different cultures and religions, friendship and fun. As it marks its 60th year, I have every faith that Stratford College will carry its values and traditions forward and create lasting memories for many more students to come.
