Stratford Past Pupils Look Back: Emma-Mae West

NEWS / 15 April 2016

Emma-Mae West, Nursing - Trinity, contributed her memories of Stratford for the 60th Anniversary book, '60 Years A Growing', which was launched in November 2014.

Stratford is a terrific school to attend, not only for the academics, but also for its ability to source your strengths and needs as a student and focus on improving and expanding these. From a young age I had an interest in acting, singing and musicals.
Stratford nurtured my talents and gave me multiple opportunities to perform in plays, musicals and for formal occasions. With their support and encouragement I have progressed in my skills and have performed in shows all over Ireland and in the UK.
I have performed for the Queen and The Royal Family in St. Peters Palace, the opening performance for World Skills in the O2 in London and frequently in the National Concert Hall, Dublin and The Gaiety. My biggest achievement to date is performing in Hello, Dolly! alongside my idol Rebecca Storm. Along with my musical theatre career I am in my final year of nursing in Trinity College. Stratford taught me many things, but the most important; never be afraid of expressing yourself for who you are.
