Stratford experience victory and defeat in 1st and 2nd Year Basketball matches

Luke Higgins in 2nd Year wrote this report: Although the Stratford Basketball team were saddened and shaken by the death of Basketball legend Kobe Bryant on January 26th, the 1st and 2nd Year Basketball teams did enjoy a brilliant day out in UCD on January 28th with both the 1st and 2nd Year Teams playing the 1st and 2nd Year teams of Sandymount Park Educate together.

When the teams got changed into match kit, the 1st Years got warmed up and went straight into a match against Sandymount Park Educate together 1st Years.

After a 4 Quarter hard-fought battle, the 1st Years came out on top taking the win by one point after an impressive team performance with Peter and Mori’s (1st Year) performances standing out in particular.

After an impressive victory by the 1st Years, it was time for the 2nd Years to play the 2nd Years of Sandymount Park Educate together.

The Stratford 2nd Year team was presented with a tough and physical challenge by the Sandymount Park Educate together 2nd Year team.

Although the Stratford 2nd Year team were defeated by 4 points in a close contest, they did put in a strong team performance with Tyrese and Dean’s (2nd Year) performances standing out in particular.

Appointment of Delia Donohoe to Permanent Deputy Principal

Delia Donohoe has been appointed as Permanent Deputy Principal of Stratford College, following her tenure as Acting Deputy Principal since August 2023. This milestone marks her 21st year as a dedicated member of the Stratford community, where she has made a lasting contribution both in the classroom and in leadership.

Speaking about her appointment Chair of the Board of Management Ms. Aoife Cassidy said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Delia as Deputy Principal; she has been a leader and teacher at Stratford College for more than 20 years. During this time, she has served in an acting capacity as Deputy Principal, including over the last three years. She has strong leadership skills and an unwavering commitment and dedication to our school community. We have every confidence that she will continue to lead with the same energy, warmth and dedication in the years ahead. We are delighted to formally confirm Delia’s appointment and wish her every success in the role going forward.
