School Self Evaluation (SSE) is a management tool which helps schools to focus on the effectiveness of their practices. The theme for the next few years is on teaching and learning. As part of the process parents, students and/or teachers are surveyed about aspects of teaching and learning in the school and a School Improvement Plan (SIP) is devised to target the areas identified for improvement. A summary of this year's plans was presented to the Parents Association last September and we have been working on the areas we prioritised since then.
These areas are:
- Assessment for Learning (AfL)
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Positive Mental Health
- E-learning
- Acceptable User Policy
To guage our progress to date we will be administering questionnaires in some of these areas to parents, students and/or staff as relevant over the next few months. The information that we will get from these results along with consultation with staff and parents and issues that arise over the year will also help us to establish our areas for improvement for next year. Our School Improvement Plan will be approved by the Board of Management in May and presented to the Parents Association again in September. The Board is updated at its meeetings throughout the year on this plan.
