New Green Schools Committee aim to apply for a Green Flag for the school

NEWS / 24 February 2011

Vincent Murray (6th Year), summarises the achievements of the Green Schools Committee as the handover to the new Committee commences with a new Student Council.

Green Schools BannerAs the term of Student Council has come to an end, so has ours on the Green Schools Comittee, as the Leaving Certificate takes our utmost attention from now until June. This is a summary of what we have achieved:

  • Completed an environmental evaluation and done an action plan on how we can improve this.
  • Registered for the Holocaust Crocus Plants Scheme.
  • Registered for the Jack and Jill Foundation for the collection of recycled mobile phones and ink cartridges.

Finally I would like to say thanks to the Student Council, Ms Donohoe (Green Schools Staff Representative) and Ms. Gordon for all the help in making our school as Green as it can be. We are now just about ready to apply for a Green Flag and I wish the next committee the best of luck in getting the Green Flag.

Vincent Murray (6th Year)

Secretary, Green Schools.
