The people involved in Green Schools are working hard at the moment, as we are currently in the process of renewing our Green Flag, which you may have noticed wasn’t up for a while. This is because before the Christmas holidays it was torn and Ms Mahon very kindly sewed it for us. We put it back up with Brendan our caretaker and all of the members of Green Schools on Tuesday, 3rd March.
On Wednesday, 25th of March we are having a Green Schools inspection in order to renew the flag. The inspectorate is going to have a meeting with the Green School Committee that day and also she will go into random classrooms and ask any student about what the Green Schools Committee has done, or is doing.
As an action plan for the Green Flag we are having a 'Green Day' which is on Friday,13th of March, the day of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Everyone will be able to wear green clothes, but we don’t want to see people wearing their ordinary clothes with just a green wrist band or something. You have to incorporate green into your clothes properly. Everyone will need to bring in €3, which the Green School reps are currently going around at form time and collecting. With this €3, the students will receive hard plastic re-usable bottles. This is to get rid of the soft plastic bottles so that we can reduce the waste.
