Green Schools: December update

The Green Schools Committee meets every Wednesday at lunchtime in the Classics Room. The committee has a busy agenda as they work towards the Water Flag. Get a sense of the work involved from this blog compiled by 2nd Year students - Valery Goulakova and Juno Hegarty.

The Green Schools Committee meets every Wednesday at lunchtime with Ms Donohoe and has a busy schedule of tasks to undertake. Currently Green Schools are aiming for their third Green Flag - the Water Flag. Currently issues and topics for consideration are (and this is not the full list):

  • Talk about the collection of buckets for the collection of rain water to water the plants outside
  • Gave jobs out; Blogs, Ideas, posters, check ups on lights, water bins etc, 
  • Working on new posters for the bathroom
  • Watched a video on '2 Minute Beach Clean-Up'
  • Bottles in the Tuck Shop

Stratford reach the 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards Finals in RDS for the first time

Congratulations to 1st Year Computer Studies students - Yair, Liam and Giorgi - who made it to the ECO-UNESCO 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards Finals held on 12th May with their Scratch coding project called "Giorgi the Litter Fighter". This is the first time that a Stratford project has made it to the finals - so very impressive work!
