Fifth Year students, Christina Greene and Carmel Grey and the rest of the Green Schools Committee organised a 'Green Day' to coincide with the Seachtain na Gaeilge Concert on Friday, 13th March and to raise awareness and funds for the charity, VOICE.

On the day of the Seachtain na Gaeilge concert - Friday, 13th March - Green Schools organised a 'Green Day. On this 'Green Day' the students were able to dress in green to celebrate both Seachtain na Gaeilge and Green Day. In order for the students to wear green they were asked to bring in €3 and with that money Green Schools are giving bottles to everyone in the school in order for us to reduce waste. VOICE (voiceireland.org) is a member-based Irish environmental charity that empowers individuals and local communities to take positive action to conserve our natural resources.

It also advocates for the government and the corporate sector to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours, and for the development of strong national policies on waste and water issues.

Also on Green Day, while the Seachtain na Gaeilge concert was on, the Green School Committee went around to all the classrooms and switched all the lights and computers off in order to save energy. The money left over from the bottles will be given to the charity VOICE.
